$ACN rose 15.8% to $212.30 on Thursday, adding about $17.7 billion in market value. That is its biggest one-day gain in the 400 sessions of history the site holds, going back to February 2025, and nearly double the next best (8.3% on 26 February 2026). The shares still finished 21% below where they closed 2025, at $268.30.

The day's headlines put the jump next to fourth-quarter results that included a record $84.5 billion in annual bookings. Volume was about 29 million shares, roughly 4.5 times the July-to-September daily average of 6.4 million.

The June hole

Most of this year's damage came in one session. On 18 June, the day Accenture cut its fiscal 2026 growth forecast, the stock fell 18% to $127.98, its worst day in the site's records. It kept drifting and closed at $124.44 on 30 June, the lowest close in the history we hold.

From that low, Thursday's close is up 71%. Most of that recovery happened before this week's report: the stock had already reached $183.37 by Wednesday's close.

The rest of IT services

Other IT services names in the S&P 500 rose too, by less. $CTSH rose 6.0% and $IBM 2.6%. In dollars, IBM's gain was about $5.4 billion, under a third of Accenture's. Reuters reported the results lifted IT services stocks that had been hit by fears that AI would cut into their business.
